This is a super simple recipe for Plant-Based Sweet Potato Fries/Chips. You can have them plain, or add your own seasoning such as fresh or dried rosemary, black pepper or cayenne pepper. I like mine seasoned, so I use this concoction that’s super simple to make. If you like your food with a bit of a kick, I’m sure you’ll like it too.
Put all of the following ingredients in a bowl and mix together:
- One and half teaspoons of hot smoked paprika such as La Chinata Hot Smoked Paprika
- Three quarters of a teaspoon of ground cumin
- One quarter mild chilli powder
- Half a teaspoon dried thyme
- Half a teaspoon dried oregano
- Half a teaspoon onion powder
- Half a teaspoon of garlic powder
Plant-Based Sweet Potato Fries/Chips
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees c. Line a baking sheet with greaseproof/parchment paper and set aside.
Place one sweet potato cut into long thin strips – there’s no need to peel them, onto the baking sheet, making sure they don’t overlap.
Sprinkle generously with your choice of seasoning – fresh rosemary, black pepper, cayenne pepper for instance, and mix throughly.
Put your seasoned sweet potatoes into the oven for 15 minutes.
Remove them from the oven and turn, then pop them back in for another 10 to 15 minutes. Keep checking them to ensure they don’t cook too quickly.
Then they’re ready. Just like that!
Try them with plant-based aduki bean burgers, rosemary and nut burgers, plant-based pizza or super simple sweet potato and bean burgers.
